Artistic Shoes with a Big Impact

We are delighted to share that artist Gerd Stritzel has raised a remarkable amount for the Shoe Aid Project. Over the past few months, he has actively supported our mission by selling individually hand-painted and signed shoes.

During his travels, Gerd Stritzel encountered many people and was inspired by their stories. His experiences are reflected in his artwork – including a painting of a woman from Tanzania. The young African woman proudly carries used shoes from Europe on her head, smiling. The painting offers a glimpse into the life of a street vendor in Tanzania – a scene that is also common in Cameroon. In many African countries, second-hand shoes begin a new life this way.

Beneath the painting lies a pile of used shoes ready for a new purpose. These shoes are still available for purchase on the artist’s website, with all proceeds supporting our project.

Thanks to the sale of these unique artworks, we have already raised 650 euros for the Shoe Aid Project. These funds allow us not only to distribute donated shoes to those who need them most but also to organize workshops for local shoemakers. By doing so, we help create sustainable businesses and long-term opportunities in the region.

We sincerely thank everyone who has contributed to our project by purchasing a pair of these special shoes. Every additional shoe donation—whether through our collection points or by mail—helps us make a positive difference.

You can find a list of collection points here: Collection points.
